LEGISLATION WILL CURB FREEDOM OF SPEECH

The law, Fleet Street and a free press – FT.com.

In the aftermath of the Levinson Inquiry we seem to be in a similar situation that has happened on previous occasions .Cameron was totally embroiled in the media stentch ,with Coulsen Charlie and Rebekeh Brooks being too close to him for him not to distance himself from what was called invasion by the press upon individuals ,but was it a personal call for an inquiry by Cameron to bypass his own failings of being too close to the press .But if freedom of speech is to be maintained in this country we do not want legislated regulation otherwise similar to the Terrorism Act ,it will be used for curbing internal issues concerning the public .The main concern is one of a corporation monopolising the media in such a way that its bias can and has influenced Political Party Policy to some extent .Can we trust an individual Political Parties not to use legislation to its own advantage .The exposure of the Media being bedfellows of the Police and Politicians  and to the determent of some vulnerable members of the public has now been aired in the open ,heads have rolled and lessons learned ,if legislation is passed it will be another freedom we have lossed . http://www.brokenbritainundertories.com
